OVERVIEW:

With the completion of the Aljen Heights Water Main Project anticipated in the Spring of 2013, the Town is pursuing opportunities to help property owners connect to the new line. In 2011 the Town received a $300,000 Small Cities Community Development Block Grant to establish a rehabilitation loan program. This program has been successful and much of the funding has been committed. In order to help with connection costs and continue the rehabilitation program the Town is preparing a new application for funding. The success of that application depends to a great extent on our ability to demonstrate need and we are asking that if you believe you would benefit from the program, you review the program requirements and complete the form below.

Eligibility

Eligibility is based on a combination of household size and household income. For example, for a family of four the income limit is approximately $65,000. This number changes from time to time and is based on 80% of the median household income in the region.

Eligibilty Activities

Eligibile repairs include the correction of health and safety violations, septic system repairs, code compliance, weatherization, energy conservation measurers, lead paint remediation, general home improvements such as roofing, carpentry, doors and windows, electrical, plumbing, heating and other non-luxury work. For this application, water connections will be given priority.

Loan Program

Funds are normally offered in the form of a deferred loan to owners/occupants. Deferred loans are 0% interest loans which require no repayment until a transfer of title, refinancing, the owner's demise or the subject property is no longer the applicant's principle place of residence.
